Hi everyone,:)

I've had my Zune for about 4 months, and I was listening to it the other day when it was half charged, and then it suddenly turned itself off and will not turn back on! I've tried all the resetting, plugging into laptop stages etc. to no avail. I can't send it off to Microsoft because I'm not under the warranty in the UK. . .

So a few questions really:
1) Is it the battery that's died? Or something else?
2) How easy is it to replace parts yourself? (Is there soldering etc. involved?)
3) If not, are there any Zune repairs places based in the UK, as I don't really want to pay loads of money to get it sent of to RapidRepair!

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Sounds like it could be the battery but it's unusual for a Zune to just shut off like that.  First thing to try is to leave it plugged into your PC trying to charge for at least 12 hours.  This will sometimes kick start the battery back to life.

If you got the Zune from us (ZuneThings) then we honour the warranty.  Just send an email and we can get it replaced.

If you got it somewhere else contact them to try and get them to help you.  They might if you make enough noise!

Otherwise there is a good repair site in the US that we used in the past and they also have DIY repair guides on the site.  Details here:

Cheers,
Rob

I'm so annoyed because I got the Zune on ebay, and then about a month later stumbled across your website!  Sad

I'll probably have to get it sent off to Rapid Repair, or if I'm feeling brave do it myself.
