Use this thread to say hello and welcome yourself to the Zune Forums.

Hi, I am 35 and had a zune in some form for about 3 years ish.
Started with v1 Zune 30gb white, then a Black v2 30gb and now they have both been sold on and I have a snazzy Zune HD 32gb Plat silver.
I am from Newcastle Upon Tyne and really think the Zune is a top notch device.

Play on the Xbox 360 and PS3 most of the time (Gamertag - Basher Walls / PSN - BasherWalls) and Fifa 10, Forza 3, GTA 4 stories, Uncharted 2 and soon to have COD Modern Warfare 2 are my games of choice.
Married for 10 years with a little 2 year old girl.

Thats me, who else is out there?

Hello   Smiley

I am 23 yrs. old and currently do not own a Zune, but have heard great stuff about it. Currently, I have an ancient Muvo mp3 player that has held up well through its abuse the past 'several' years... My Muvo holds quite a lot of music, but by the time I get to the beat I want to listen to my battery dies on me! Thinking it is time to update into my 'modern' tech surroundings, huh?  Undecided

Does anyone have suggestions as to which Zune to get?

The zune HD all the way, its not got massife capasity but its more than just an mp3 player and its only going to get better when they relice more software/improve the browser. It looks like its also going to have a great homebrew sene and that OLED screen is to die for.

Second that.

Zune HD is the way to go - 32gb if you can afford one.
If you cut the crap out of your Mp3 collection you will have plenty space.

I have 35gb of music on my PC and once I choose the songs I actually listen to the zune still has over 15gb space.
The added features of the Zune HD and the app and game possibilities mean that there is no real choice.
Sold my Zune 80gb v2 to part fund the upgrade and never looked back.

Managed to grab a 32gb Zune HD for £175 on ebay in new (used for a week - could not use marketplace) condition. So bargains are out there. Expect to pay £180 ish for the 16gb and £230 ish for the 32gb but be aware of the import charges.
A few Uk retailers out there but stock may be limited.

This seems like a good idea, I have loved the Zune brand since I first heard about and have had a poster of the logo in my room for several years now. However I never brought a device to the cost of shipping and limited service outside of the US but during this summer I won an 8GB Zune and have enjoyed using it. The Zune software is great and I am greatly looking foward to the expansion of services that the Zune brand will be rolling out to (so far on the Xbox and confirmed for Windows Mobile). I would love to have a Zune HD but as a student I can't justify the expense of another MP3 player and without all the services of the Zune it isn't as good as in the US.

Not only do I enjoy the Zune but many of Microsoft's products and services and have a blog about Microsoft. On this blog I started a campaign to get people to sign a petition to get Microsoft to bring the Zune HD to the UK and other countries around the world, I guess most people here will want to sign that petition too which can be found at http://mymicrosoftlife.com/?p=488. I have quite a few posts with reagrds to the Zune service and brand from news to tips for people in the UK, all of which can be found at http://mymicrosoftlife.com/?tag=zune.

hi all,
andy is the name, am 34 and am a social care worker/outdoor instructor from the highlands. currently have an ipod touch (first gen) and was looking to upgrade to one with a built in speaker but am looking into the zune as 1)i am an xbox user (gt=highlander uk) and 2)am soooo peeed of with itunes as its so not user friendly. my other problem is that i am a linux user rather than windows so need to steal the missus`s pc to back up the ipod (hence why it doesw silly things like syncs without warning and looses downloads etc) so am looking for some device i can drag and drop with.
2 questions before i take the jump - does the zune hd have built in speaker? what are the actual limitations with the zune in the uk - if i simply want to put music and vids on to start with is that simple enough?
cheers
andy

Highlander,

You cannot drag and drop to sync the Zune you will need to use the Zune software and I'm pretty sure its windows only.  You could download it and trial it out before you purchase a device, this is what I did and really liked the software.

The Zune HD does not have a built in speaker.

To have access to the marketplace, social and the free downloads such as apps and podcasts (although you can add RSS feeds manually), you will need to change your region on your PC to United States.  To buy the Zune pass you need to be able to register with a US address.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi, I have 30 gb generation 1 Zune Player.

I think it is a fantastic device and am hoping Zune will launch a market place in uk for music download.

I would be glad to receive any news from any reliable source regarding a possible UK release date.
